These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the SmartHome.AI website at smarthome.ai and any services provided by SmartHome.AI Inc. By accessing our website, submitting a contact form, or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada.
SmartHome.AI provides professional home security services including: home security assessments and system recommendations; professional installation of alarm systems, security cameras, and smoke/CO detectors; access to 24/7 professional monitoring; and ongoing technical support. Services are subject to availability confirmed by postal code at time of assessment.
SmartHome.AI operates as a home security services company. Monitoring is provided through professional third-party monitoring operations centres. Installation is provided by certified security technicians.
SmartHome.AI offers a free home security assessment including: a consultation to understand your home's security needs; a system recommendation tailored to your property; and a written or verbal quote. The free assessment carries no obligation to proceed. There is no cost to you for the assessment. By submitting your contact details you consent to being contacted as described in our Privacy Policy.
Professional monitoring requires a written Service Agreement signed by both parties. No monitoring begins until a Service Agreement is executed.
Standard monitoring agreements have an initial term of 36 months, stated clearly in your agreement before signing.
After the initial term, agreements renew month-to-month unless you provide written notice of cancellation at least 30 days before the renewal date.
24/7 monitoring is provided through professional monitoring operations centres. Response times and procedures are governed by the monitoring centre's standard operating procedures, provided to you prior to installation.
All material terms of your Service Agreement, including monthly fees, contract term, and early termination fee formula, will be clearly disclosed before you sign. You will not be asked to sign anything on the day of your assessment call.
Professional installation is provided at no charge when you activate a monitoring plan. There are no separate installation charges.
Installation includes placement and configuration of all equipment in your selected plan, detailed in your quote and Service Agreement. Technicians test all equipment before leaving and walk you through system operation.
You represent that you have legal authority to authorize installation at the property. Installation at rental properties requires written landlord permission where modification to the property is involved.
We target installation within 24–48 hours for most areas, subject to technician availability confirmed at time of assessment.
Monthly monitoring fees are as stated in your Service Agreement, billed monthly in advance. SmartHome.AI may adjust fees with a minimum of 30 days written notice. Any increase during an initial fixed term entitles you to terminate without early termination fee by providing written notice within 30 days of receiving notice of the increase. All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD) and subject to applicable taxes.
If you cancel before the end of the initial term, an early termination fee (ETF) applies. The ETF formula will be stated in your Service Agreement. Typically calculated based on remaining months multiplied by a percentage of your monthly monitoring fee.
Important: Read your Service Agreement carefully before signing. Ensure you understand the ETF formula and total potential cost of cancellation.
After the initial term, you may cancel month-to-month service with 30 days written notice. No ETF applies after the initial term.
SmartHome.AI will work with customers experiencing qualifying life circumstances (such as property sale or medical hardship) to find reasonable solutions. Contact us directly to discuss your situation.
Service agreements may be transferable to a new occupant or to a new property within our service area. Transfer eligibility is subject to approval and discussed during your assessment.
You may use our website for lawful purposes only. You agree not to: violate applicable Canadian law; submit false or misleading information; attempt unauthorized access to any part of our systems; use automated tools to scrape or harvest information; or transmit malicious code. All website content is the property of SmartHome.AI Inc. and protected by Canadian copyright law.
To the maximum extent permitted by law: our website and pre-installation services are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind; SmartHome.AI shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages; our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount paid by you in the three months preceding the event. Nothing limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada. Disputes not resolved informally are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario. We encourage direct contact to resolve disputes before any formal process.
