SmartHome.AI Inc. ("SmartHome.AI", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
This policy applies to information collected through our website at smarthome.ai, our landing pages, our contact forms, and any related services.
Plain language: We collect your name, phone number, and postal code when you request a home security assessment. We use this to contact you about our services. We do not sell your information. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
When you submit a form on our website, we collect: your name, phone number, postal code, preferred contact time, and a record of your CASL consent.
When you visit our website we automatically collect: IP address and approximate geographic location (city level), browser type and version, operating system, pages visited, referring website or advertisement, and date and time of visit. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies described in Section 10.
We do not collect payment card numbers, Social Insurance Numbers, government-issued ID numbers, or any sensitive personal information not listed above through our website.
We use your information to: contact you about your home security assessment request; provide information about our services; schedule and coordinate installations; send service-related communications; improve our services using aggregated anonymized data; and comply with legal obligations. We will not use your information for purposes not disclosed at collection without additional consent.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
We may share your information with: service providers who assist us in operating our business, such as GoHighLevel (our CRM platform), under data processing agreements that require them to maintain confidentiality and security; security monitoring and installation partners, only after you have agreed to proceed with installation; and law enforcement or regulatory authorities, where required by applicable law.
When you submit a form on our website you check a box confirming consent to be contacted by SmartHome.AI about home security services. This constitutes express consent under CASL. We record the date, time, and source of your consent.
We will attempt to contact you a maximum of two times following your initial request. If you indicate no interest, all commercial contact ceases immediately.
You may withdraw consent at any time by: telling us directly during any communication; or emailing privacy@smarthome.ai with subject "Unsubscribe". We process withdrawal requests within 10 business days.
SmartHome.AI complies with Canada's National Do Not Call List (DNCL) requirements. We maintain an internal do-not-call list and do not contact individuals registered with the DNCL unless they have provided express consent. To be added to our internal list: privacy@smarthome.ai.
We retain personal information as follows: enquiry records (name, phone, postal code, consent) — up to 2 years from collection or until deletion is requested; customer records for clients who proceed with installation — duration of service agreement plus 7 years; CASL consent records — minimum 3 years from date consent was given or withdrawn; website analytics — aggregated data indefinitely, individual session data up to 26 months. When no longer required, information is securely deleted or anonymized.
Under PIPEDA you have the right of access to your personal information; the right to correct inaccurate information; the right to withdraw consent; and the right to request deletion where information is no longer necessary. To exercise these rights, contact our Privacy Officer below. We respond within 30 days. If unsatisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures including: encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS); access controls limiting who can view personal information; secure CRM systems with role-based access; and regular review of data handling practices. No internet transmission is 100% secure. In the event of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner in accordance with applicable law.
